The City of Durham and Durham County have partnered with Carolina Small Business Development Fund to establish the Durham Small Business Recovery Fund to provide loan funds for small businesses (for-profits) adversely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Eligible businesses are those with fewer than 50 employees, including home-based businesses and food trucks. The total fund amount is approx. $1.8 million with available funds remaining. Loan size ranges from $5,000 to $35,000 for 10 years with an Interest rate fixed at 3.00%.

RETOOL NC Grant Program
The Institute has partnered with Department of Administration Office for Historically Underutilized Businesses (HUB) and Carolina Small Business Development Fund to establish the RETOOLNC Grant Program Fund to provide grant funds for small businesses (for-profits) adversely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Eligible businesses are certified HUB and DBE firms with so employees or less. Funded at $12 million, the HUB Small Business Impact Grant Program (RETOOLNC) will be administered by the Office for Historically Underutilized Businesses (HUB Office) in partnership with the Carolina Small Business Development Fund (CSBDF) and the North Carolina Institute for Minority Economic Development (the Institute).

Durham Tech is offering a number of high-impact courses to help students get opportunities for immediate employment in growing industries. Courses listed below are targeted toward short-term courses with less than a year of classroom time to help students get back to work quickly. Offerings focus on high-demand occupations including health, biotechnology, skilled trades, information technology, and more. Additional courses will be offered later this year, including BioWork, Nurse Aide, Core Construction, and Human Resources Development.

The Streetery
We are opening multiple streets in the center of downtown to pedestrian traffic with festive lights, music and performers sprinkled throughout. Join us on Friday and Saturday evenings from 5-9:30 p.m. from September 18 – December 19 to shop, carry out, dine in or dine out. It is our way of welcoming folks to a safer, socially distanced, outdoor downtown experience.

By grouping orders at one location and time, while eliminating hefty service fees levied by popular delivery apps, Durham Delivers provides a financially viable option for independent restaurants, while adding new delivery options for customers.
